Several markets: Change of German-Hessian tax number
Clearstream Banking1 has been informed of a change of tax number (Steuernummer) affecting citizens of the German Hessian region.
Effective
immediately
clients who are aware of a change of tax number affecting themselves or their underlying clients must inform Clearstream Banking accordingly.
Background
Following the merger of the tax offices in Kassel, Wiesbaden, Frankfurt am Main and Offenbach am Main, the tax numbers of these locations have been standardised.
Entities whose tax number was changed should have been informed directly by the tax office.
The identification number (“ID number”) is not affected by the changes. The ID number is valid throughout Germany, generally for life.

Impact on clients
The change of tax number may have consequences on the certification in several markets.
In some cases, the certification must be renewed while in other instances the certification can remain valid upon receipt of an annex confirming the new tax number. The actions to be taken vary according to the market requirements.
Clients who are made aware of a change of tax number affecting the final beneficial owners (BO) should provide the following information to their Relationship Managers or to Clearstream Banking’s Tax Helpdesk:
- The markets concerned;
- The status of the BO.
Upon receipt of these details, Clearstream Banking will communicate the actions to be taken.
