Greece: Ban on short-selling extended further
Further to our Marketflash M12036, dated 26 July 2012, the Hellenic Capital Markets Commission (HCMC) has decided to extend the ban on short-selling of equities and ETFs until 31 January 2013.
When making this decision, the HCMC took into consideration the following factors:
- Conditions prevailing in the Greek and other European capital markets;
- Recent decision by the regulatory authorities in Spain (the CNMV) to extend their short-selling ban.
