Flexible General Meeting Service for ICSD and CSD clients
Clearstream offers services for general meetings that cover all our proxy voting markets and eligible instrument types – including Eurobonds and investment funds. It is designed to support domestic and cross-border share, fund and bond holders in their governance rights and to help facilitate active ownership in meeting corporate governance guidelines, such as the EU Shareholders Rights Directive, in delivering general meeting notifications and processing voting instructions.
Service overview
The General Meeting Service is a standardised, end-to-end solution for distributing meeting information and processing investor instructions across global markets and asset classes. Built on ISO 20022 standards, the service supports greater automation, transparency and straight-through processing, while also offering coexistence with selected legacy formats.
Clearstream provides access to meeting notifications and the ability to submit voting and attendance instructions via standardised messaging or Xact Web Portal, as well as the option to track processing status and the execution confirmation after the meeting. The General Meeting Service is designed to help intermediaries and investors to exercise their governance rights efficiently, while complying with applicable market and regulatory requirements. Specific filter options are available for reporting subscriptions to provide a customised service scope, including asset type selection.
To provide maximum flexibility, Clearstream also supports the use of third-party providers and proxy voting agents. Clients may appoint their preferred service provider under a separate bilateral agreement, enabling seamless integration of outsourced voting and governance solutions into the service model.
