Glossary for User Management
- Action
- An Action is any type of system functionality that an end user can initiate.
- API
- An API (Application Programming Interface) is a specification intended to be used as an interface by a software component to communicate with each other.
- Customer OU
- Customer OU represents a specific customer organisation. Customer OUs can have multiple levels.
- Entity
- An Entity defines a set of Financial Institutions with their owned and usable resources.
- Entity OU
- An Entity OU is a set of Entities.
- Financial Institution (FI)
- A Financial Institution (FI) is an establishment such as a bank, trust company, insurance company or investment dealer.
- Functional Role
- A Functional Role is represented by a group of Permissions.
- Grant
- All Roles and Resources are assigned to the level of the Support OU, that is, the top node of the Hierarchical OU Model. The concept of grants allows the Roles and Resources to be made available throughout all OU objects. It is also used to specify, for each user, the access to specific roles and the resources available on that role.
- HOUM
- HOUM (Hierarchical OU Model) is a structure composed of OU’s. It represents a generic organisation structure for the Identity and Access Management. This structure has been defined in order to provide flexibility for the configuration and usage for all OU levels. The Hierarchical OU Model is composed of three OU levels.
- IAM
- Identity and Access Management: general term to include all systems linked to the identification (authentication) and access granting (authorisation) of application end users.
- IDL
- Initial Data Load (IDL): loading of configuration data directly in the database, not via the user interface.
- Permission
- Permission defines the capability to trigger an Action on a specific set of Resource Types.
- POA
- A power of attorney (POA) is the authorisation to represent or act on another OU's behalf with specific Functional Roles and Resources.
- Resource
- A Resource is any type of business related object that is used in one of the business application and on which access rights need to be managed.
- Resource Group
- A Resource Group combines a list of Resources with different Resource Types or specifies only a list of Resource Types.
- Resource OU Grant
- Same as the Role OU Grant, the Resource OU Grant is used to identify all Resources (optionally grouped into Resource Group(s)) that are granted, in order to be available at sub-OU’s level.
- Resource Type
- A Resource Type identifies a set of the Resources. For example, Cash Accounts (all accounts of type Cash Account). Each resource needs to be identified by a type in order to be categorised. This will implicitly group the resources.
- Support OU
- The root object that acts as a starting point for the entire organisation structure and defines all the permissions and the resources that can be delegated to lower levels.
- User
- The concept of the User represents anyone that can act inside the Xact Portal.
- User Grant
- A User Grant is an association between a Functional Role and one or several Resource Group. In other words a grant set the Resources on which an action is allowed to be executed in the Xact Portal. A Grant can only be defnined in a User Group. Then if a user belongs to that User Group, he will inherit the permissions defined for that group.
